Every gathering follows the same rhythm: a warm welcome, a shared experience, space for conversation, and a gentle closing ritual. For these two hours, nobody will ask you to prove or improve yourself. The activities change; the feelings of belonging and delight don't.

Welcome to the clubhouse
Put on comfy shoes, pick a beverage, begin to exhale.
6:30 p.m.
Opening ritual
At the weekly check-in, you start to feel held. Other members don't judge; they simply witness where you are today.
6:50 p.m.
The glorious nonsense begins
Tonight's main event is an obstacle course. Oh boy. You start out pretty apprehensive but end up in tears of laughter.
8:00 p.m.
Sharing space
The host offers a prompt about obstacles. You share about having trouble making friends as an introvert.
8:25 p.m.
Closing ritual
We read the picture book "The Most Magnificent Thing" and reflect on all the magnificent things you've made happen.
Field notes: One day at the Clubhouse
In 2023, I cohosted a women's weekend with no agenda worth mentioning. We rode scooters and played silly games. We cooked together and sat in companionable quiet.
For two days, nobody was optimizing anything. You could feel the exhale, the delight, the version of us that shows up when we stop performing.

Then the weekend ended. Most of the women who needed it most couldn't even make it, and two days wasn't enough to build lasting friendships.

Leaving there, I felt called to build something more permanent — a standing place to exhale, to belong, and to delight.
That calling became The League of Glorious Nonsense.
